Virtual CAD Office

Cadgile and its sister company Kadego have always been quick to adjust to changing conditions. And 2020 is testing that!! To continue to provide our customers with easy to access CAD and Engineering services, we have formed a virtual CAD office with all of our designers working from their home offices but networked. All the same systems and processes are in place to deliver fast, quality results. In addition to email and Skype we are also developing a remote VR viewing tool to enable any of our customers to make use of VR for design review but without the need for them to have their own VR equipment. Stay safe everyone!

New Head Office Opening

New premises for Cadgile to accommodate growth

12 April 2019 – Local CAD & Engineering Services company Cadgile has moved to a bigger office facility in order to accommodate growth in the business. The company, which was acquired by French engineering services company Groupe FIVA in November last year is expecting to double its workforce over the next 12 months. Cadgile’s new premises at 320 Port Road, Hindmarsh was officially opened by Premier Steven Marshall on Friday 12 April.

Cadgile’s expected growth comes on the back of its acquisition by Goupe FIVA, which has strong ties with fellow French company Naval Group, which specialises in naval defence and marine renewable energy. This relationship has in turn led to a collaborative agreement being signed between Groupe FIVA and ASC Pty Ltd to develop a joint submarine design workforce in Australia with the capability to satisfy Naval Group’s demands for design services in support of the Australian Future Submarine Program. Cadgile will play a critical role in providing submarine design services as part of FIVA’s involvement in the submarine program.

“It will, of course, also be available to our other clients in the mining, manufacturing, commercial and industrial sectors,” added Mr. McRae.

Cadgile Secondments

Managing projects can be very challenging. Rarely do they go smoothly, 100% of the time. They can suffer from a change of scope; delays, breakdowns; or changes in timelines. Often they suffer from a lack of resources at critical moments.

That’s where Cadgile Secondments provide the ideal solution. Say the need is for a piping isometric specialist, using Plant 3D. Cadgile can select the ideal drafter from their existing team, and supply them on site the next day if needed. Sure the hourly rate is a little higher, but the project gets an instant kick along, getting it back on track. And in the end, how much is that worth?

The Three Tier Checking Process – Is it worth it?

Typically drafting accounts for 5-8% of the total cost of a project but influences as much as 90% of the cost.  Combine that with the massive costs that can be incurred in rectifying problems caused by inaccurate drawings and it’s easy to see why investing a little more in the quality of the drafting makes commercial sense.

At Cadgile we allow 15% on all jobs to complete our internal 3 tier checking process.  We are sometimes asked is this worth it?  In our view you can’t afford not to do it.  The checking process is an integral part of the Cadgile way to ensure our clients receive accurate drawings, on time, every time.  And in the end that helps make the project as cost effective as possible.

Cadgile Attends S.A. Future Submarine Update

Last night Cadgile attended the Future Submarines Program Update at the new Naval Group headquarters at Richmond S.A..  The speaker, Mr Brent Clark; Naval Group Australia’s CEO and Australian Program Director spoke passionately about this exciting 50 year whole of life project.

Focusing on the future Australian labour requirements, it was quite interesting to hear that multiple generations within the one family of employees will work through the shipyard over the life of the project.  Current high school students will be the future Naval Group engineers, fabricators and project team members of the future.

As a proud South Australian SME, Cadgile is excited by the opportunity to become involved with such an iconic Australia Defence program.
